What is Roman Glass?

These ancient Roman Glass fragments originate from parts of ancient blown glass vessels of the Roman Byzantine Empire between 1st-6th centuries A.D.-shortly after glass was invented.
These glittering glass fragments were picked up on ancient sites in the Holy Land.
Some fragments are transparent while others are colored. The spectrum of colors which appear on the glass were formed over hundreds of years. The beautiful colors are the result of the combined effects of climatic conditions and the surrounding earth in which the glass was embedded. Over the generations, layer upon layer of earth covered the glass, giving the unique color of "Patina."
Although these glass fragments are solid and do not break easily, it is advisable to handle them with care.

What is a hamsa?

The hamsa is an image recognized universally throughout history to many civilizations as a sign that represents blessings, power, and strength, as well as protection against the evil eye, which is thought to bring bad luck to people whom it is directed towards.
The symbol predates Christianity and Islam and was often hung on the walls of their homes and worn as jewelry, such as the homes of pregnant women and newborn babies.
A closed hand such as this one is believed to mean good luck.

More Information

Glass is one of the most ancient and first materials used by man. Like everything else in the Universe, glass has its own set of energies. It is said to represent and carry the energies of transformation, rebirth, focus and communication. The colors of the glass bring the vibrations of those specific color energies. The blue/green shades of Roman Glass are believed to open communication. It is also believed to give the gift of freedom to pursue new ideas and protection from fears and anxieties connected with the demands of others.
